Eco Council
We are the Eco council and we would like you to know what we do. As Eco councillors we want to make the school and the world more environmentally friendly. Every year the whole school has a May fair and the Eco councillors run a stall to raise money to buy equipment to help the environment. In the Eco council we are involved in gardening in the school gardens. We plant vegetables so the school cook can serve them for lunch. Also we plant flowers for the Dronfield in Bloom competition. Every lunchtime some children walk round classes looking at lights and other appliances to see if they are off. Then we award the class that keeps the lights off the most. We are very proud that we are an Eco Schools green flag school, which was awarded to us for all our hard work.

Tree Planting March 2022
On the 25th of March as a school, we planted 420 trees for the Woodland Trust. Each class had a turn at tree planting at a scheduled time. Everyone got into pairs and planted 2 trees between them. Two of the trees we planted were called Dog Rose and Rowan. Each pair had a planting set which included a shovel, tree, bamboo stick and a plastic covering.
We started by putting our shovel into the ground and wiggling it.
After that we had made a hole we placed the roots into the ground.
We then put the bamboo stick into the ground and started twirling the plastic cover round the tree so birds and insects don’t eat it.
Finally we pressed our heel round the stem to make it secure enough to not fall down.
We planted these trees to help the environment and try to make our school more environmentally friendly.
