Values Awards

“Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do” (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Children are rewarded each week for living out ‘love and kindness’ though our Christian values of kindness, perseverance and trust’. Any number of children in each class can get one of these awards each week and they are usually given out on Fridays. You will be presented with a trophy (to bring back the following Thursday) a certificate (to keep) and 5 points for your house team.

Here is what we do to live out our Christian values at St Andrew’s:

Kindness - Treat others as you would like them to treat you.

I will:

·       be respectful in the way I listen, speak and act

·       be polite and well mannered

·       be kind and put others first before myself

‘Value others above yourself, looking out for each other’s interests.’ (Philippians 2:3-4)

Perseverance – Always try your best and never give up.

I will:

·       be resilient even when things are difficult

·       try hard, even with new experiences

·       be responsible for my next steps

·       value time to stop and think

‘Run the race of life with perseverance, looking to Jesus for help.’ (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Trust – Be trustworthy and always tell the truth.

I will:

·       show I can be trusted

·       be honest when things go wrong, put it right and learn

·       look after the things I use

·       use time wisely

‘If you are honest in small things, you’ll be honest in big things.’ (Luke 16:10)

  • Head Teacher’s award

If ANY member of staff sees a child doing something exceptional, they can nominate the child for a Head teacher’s award. Head teacher’s awards will be given out each week in Friday assembly and earn 5 points on the house score chart in the hall.

  • House Points

House points are given out to children in class and recorded on a chart according to the house to which the children belong. These feed into the points added to the house score chart each week.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

  • Behaviour chart

As decided by class teacher (e.g., clouds and sunshine etc.) Children’s names are placed in the ‘sunshine’ when behaviour is appropriate.

  • Stickers

Given out as deserved by all adults.

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6

  • Behaviour chart

Traffic lights. Used at the start of Year Three. Continued only if needed.

  • Merit Certificates

Children collect merit points throughout the year as decided by the class teacher. Certificates are presented in Friday worship when children reach bronze (25 points), silver (50 points), gold (75 points), platinum (100 points) and diamond (200 points).
