St Andrew’s CE Methodist Aided Primary School
Statement of Intent
PSHE
Purpose of Study
The St. Andrew’s child will be able to support their health and wellbeing and be able to tackle issues that can affect their ability to learn. Children will also develop skills like: teamwork, communication, and resilience, which are crucial to navigating the challenges and opportunities of the modern world, and are increasingly valued by employers. A St Andrew’s child will be able to understand their emotions, be able to process and deal with the emotions effectively. They will develop resilience skills and an understanding of what a good growth mindset is and what they need to do to achieve a good growth mindset.
Safeguarding is a key element of PSHE education as children will learn about their own identity, risks, decision-making and how to keep themselves safe. A St. Andrew’s child will have a good understanding of the core themes that run through our PSHE curriculum: Health and Wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world.
PSHE Matters enables schools to fulfill their new statutory duties to deliver statutory Relationship and Health Education, and non-statutory Sex Education.
