Equality Information
St Andrew’s CE Methodist Primary School is proudly inclusive, welcoming children, their families and visitors to school from all backgrounds. We believe as children of God, we are all uniquely talented, and that our differences bring richness, enable curiosity and deepen understanding of each other. It is this nurturing ethos that enables us all to, ‘let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that we do.
We aim to be a school family where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We value all that is brought by each person in school, and recognise that some of us need a little extra support so that we too can flourish and reach our potential.
We take seriously our duties to eliminate discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people of all backgrounds. This duty is set out in the Equality Act of 2010, which covers sex, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment and pregnancy or maternity.
St Andrew’s is committed to promoting the welfare and equality of all its staff, pupils and other members of the school community. To achieve this, we have following objectives:
· Through further staff training, refine our Early Help Offer to proactively identify members of the school community, help them ourselves and/or signpost them effectively to other appropriate agencies, enabling all of our children, parents and staff to flourish.
· Embed our agreed Relationship, Sex and Health Education curriculum (PSHE Matters) so all pupils know and understand more about positive, equal and respectful relationships (including friendships, family relationships and relationships between adults and children).
· Develop opportunities across the whole curriculum to embed a culture where all are accepted and valued with love and kindness.
· Implement a coherently sequenced curriculum that result in good outcomes for pupils in all vulnerable groups.
· To consider continually how well the school ensures equality of opportunities for all its community
· To diminish the difference in terms of achievement for vulnerable groups of students, in order to secure good progress for all learners
· To monitor and analyse student achievement by race, gender and disability and act on any trends or patterns in the data that require additional support for pupils.
· To ensure that all decisions relating to staffing and recruitment are made in the context of current Equality legislation.
